“Nature is your Shelter” Challenge!

Biodôme and Insectarium experts offer an exciting experience featuring several animal shelters built to human scale. The SABM has prepared fun challenges for each shelter. This activity is specifically designed for members and their knowledge and skills will be put to the test.

Going Batty for Bats

A bat-themed Halloween celebration! A Granby Zoo educator will talk about the anatomy and habits of bats. He will also discuss myths and misconceptions about bats and their association with witches and vampires. See live animals with your own eyes!

Perroquets en folie

Perroquets en folie is a sanctuary for exotic birds with no family. Its mission is to offer birds a permanent and stimulating living environment. The Perroquets en folie team will come see us with their colourful fine feathered friends in tow. You will learn more about these incredibly intelligent birds and get to see them up close.

A Merry Magical Christmas with Fredo

In addition to the traditional brunch and presents, you are invited to Fredo the magician’s home. While waiting for his Christmas guests, Fredo will put on a delightful little show involving the items around him. So don’t be surprised to see the presents, the Christmas tree, the family pets, the decorations and even the turkey be part of the most amazing magic tricks!

When animals change address!

“Migration,” the Biodôme’s major renovation project, is an unprecedented challenge. No other indoor zoo has ever undergone such a transformation. This massive undertaking involves the complete closure of the institution, relocation of the animals and an architecture project—not to mention the human challenge that all this work entails. Enjoy a privileged account of the inner workings of the move, told by an employee experiencing it first hand from the inside.

La Piñateria

Behavioural enrichment improves the physical and psychological well-being of animals in captivity by providing them with lots of opportunities to make choices. Team up with Biodôme animal keepers and have fun making paper-mâché piñatas to enrich the daily lives of lynxes, macaws and several other species! An animal care technician from the Biodôme will be on site to discuss his work.

The Great Egg Hunt

This Biodôme-themed egg hunt promises to be epic! Can you find the golden egg and all the other ones hidden in the botanical garden’s arboretum? A scientific guide from the Biodôme will have lots of educational material for you to discover, including eggs, feathers, nests, mounted birds and much more.

A Pendulum for the Macaws?

Get those creative juices flowing to make an “enrichment item” (pendulum) for the scarlet macaws. Your creation will be put in these parrots’ habitat to improve their physical and psychological well-being.
