Planting for Biodiversity

Buckthorn, a plant introduced to Québec for its ornamental qualities, is an invasive species in many wooded areas. It interferes with the growth of native plants and limits biodiversity in the areas it affects. In the company of a Biodôme biologist, plant native trees and shrubs in a Montréal park to help rehabilitate these buckthorn invaded areas.

Age: 9 years +

Test Mission!

When the Biodôme reopens, a mobile app will be available to all visitors who wish to enhance their Biodôme experience. Friends of the Biodôme will be invited to test this new application first! Your feedback will be very valuable to us. Enjoy access to ecosystems right at your fingertips before everyone else and the opportunity to discover this exclusive new tool.

The Great Homecoming

VIP Acces

One week before opening to the general public, the Friends of the Biodôme** are invited to take an exclusive tour of the Biodôme! Enjoy this VIP experience where you will get a sneak peek at everything that is new. The program includes access to the ecosystems and new areas in the Biodôme, face painting and creative workshops for kids, finger food and surprises!

** To be eligible for this activity, your membership must be valid on day of registration and at the time of the activity (a valid member number is mandatory when you register) – Limited places : First come first served!

Get out Your Chef’s Hat!

January 19, 2020
8:00 a.m. or 13:00 p.m.

Put your chef’s talents to good use by preparing meals for some of the Biodôme animals, under the supervision of an animal care technician. You can then watch the animals eat their food before having your own snack while chatting with our expert.

A draw for available spaces will be held among all registered members. Participants drawn will be notified by e-mail on January 9, 2020.

Age: 6 years + (mandatory – is not suitable for children 5 years and under)

An Evening at the Biodôme …

Have you ever asked yourself what goes on in the Biodôme habitats when night falls and regular visitors go home? We’ll give you the opportunity to find out! In the company of a scientific guide from the Biodôme and with the help of a flashlight, observe the ecosystems and their denizens under the nocturnal sky.

Sugar Shack

We’re hosting a traditional sugaring-off party at the Laurentian Maple Forest! Enjoy a traditional storyteller, music, taffy on the snow, sweet desserts, and information about the Laurentian maple forest in the spring. The Friends of the Biodôme will celebrate the arrival of mild weather by indulging their sweet tooth!

General meeting of Friends of the Biodôme

It is with pleasure that the Friends of the Biodome invites you to its annual general meeting. The meeting will provide an opportunity for us to report on our activities, discuss projects and answer your questions.

A Night at the Biodôme

April 18 and 25, 2020
6:45 p.m.

Fall asleep to the mesmerizing dancing of sturgeons and jellyfish. Wake up early to chanting macaws or frolicking river otters. Friends of the Biodome invites you to pitch your tent in our ecosystems! Enjoy an unforgettable experience with guided evening activities, followed by a sleepover at the Biodôme.

A draw for available spaces will be held among all registered members. Participants drawn will be notified by e-mail on march 26, 2020.

Age : 6 years + (mandatory – is not suitable for children under 6 years old)

Yoga at the Bio: In Symbiosis with Nature

Get in touch with nature by taking part in a family yoga session in a Biodôme ecosystem! It will be an amazing opportunity to introduce children to this discipline with multiple benefits, while enjoying an exceptional environment. Workshop created and given by an experienced yogi.

How Do They Grow?

Did you know that the Biodôme has greenhouses at the Botanical Garden? This is where we cultivate the plants found in our establishment’s tropical forest. In the company of a Biodôme horticulturist, you will have the opportunity to visit these greenhouses and learn more about growing the plants that are often an overlooked, yet so vital, part of our ecosystems.
